Defy Advanced Pro 0 (2026)
The fifth-generation Giant Defy Advanced Pro is a performance-oriented endurance road bike that prioritizes structural simplicity over mechanical complexity. Introduced for the 2024 model year, this ground-up redesign sheds weight and improves pedaling efficiency while retaining Giant’s signature approach to comfort: engineered carbon flex. Rather than relying on heavy shock absorbers or pivots, the frame and contact points are tuned to dissipate road vibration naturally.
This generation broadens the bike's capability with increased tire clearance, now accommodating up to 40mm rubber for riders venturing onto rougher pavement or light dirt. Visually and aerodynamically, the chassis is modernized with a fully integrated front end that routes cables through the stem and head tube. It is built for the serious distance rider or gran fondo participant who wants the vibration damping of an endurance platform but prefers the crisp, communicative ride of a traditional road racing machine.

Fit and geometry
The fifth-generation Defy Advanced Pro features a slightly sportier geometry than its predecessor, bridging the gap between a traditional upright endurance fit and a dedicated race posture. Giant reduced the head tube lengths across the size run, resulting in a marginally longer reach and lower stack. This encourages a more aerodynamic, forward-leaning position that still stops short of the aggressive drop found on the brand's pure climbing or aero bikes.
Handling is dictated by a relatively steep head angle and seat tube angle, which keep the steering sharp and the rider positioned efficiently over the bottom bracket. This geometry requires a bit more rider attention than a lazy, raked-out touring frame, but it pays dividends in cornering precision and descending stability.
At the cockpit, the integrated AeroLight stem routes cables internally for a clean aesthetic, while the proprietary D-Fuse carbon handlebar is shaped to flex downward under impact. The bar also incorporates a modest flare in the drops, providing a wider, more stable stance for the hands when navigating fast descents or rougher road surfaces.
