Rise SL M10 20mph

The 2025 Orbea Rise marks a structural shift for the platform, splitting into two distinct travel brackets to serve different trail riding approaches. Rather than a single mid-travel compromise, the lineup now divides into the 140mm-travel SL and the 160/150mm-travel LT. Both variants share the same underlying frame architecture, available in either carbon or hydroformed aluminum, and utilize a custom-tuned Shimano motor system that prioritizes a natural pedaling sensation over raw shuttle power.

This generation moves away from the strictly low-torque philosophy of its predecessor, offering up to 85Nm of torque while maintaining a relatively low system weight. It targets riders who want the handling characteristics of a traditional mountain bike but need scalable assistance for longer days or steeper terrain. By offering multiple battery capacities and a highly customizable component program, the Rise adapts to everything from fast, rolling singletrack to aggressive, rock-strewn descents.

Fit and geometry

The geometry of the Rise shifts significantly depending on whether you choose the SL or LT configuration. The SL maintains a fixed, trail-oriented posture with a 65.5-degree head angle and a steep 78-degree seat tube, keeping the rider centered and efficient for long pedaling efforts. The LT introduces a flip-chip in the shock yoke, allowing riders to toggle between a high and low setting. In the low position, the LT slackens out to a 64-degree head angle and drops the bottom bracket, prioritizing stability at speed and control on steep descents.

Across both models, Orbea utilizes a straight, uninterrupted seat tube design. This layout yields massive insertion depth, allowing riders on almost any frame size to run dropper posts with 200mm of travel or more. The chainstays remain a compact 440mm across the size run, stretching to 442mm on the LT in the low setting, which helps preserve the bike's maneuverability in tight corners. The cockpit routes cables directly through the headset, creating a clean visual profile at the expense of more complex maintenance.

Builds

The Rise lineup spans carbon and hydroformed aluminum frames, with both materials available in SL and LT travel brackets. The entry-level alloy models utilize Shimano’s EP600 RS motor, while the rest of the range steps up to the lighter EP801 RS drive unit. Buyers can select either a 420Wh or 630Wh internal battery, with the smaller option favoring absolute agility and the larger catering to extended range.

Suspension spec clearly delineates the bike's intentions. SL builds feature Fox 34 forks and inline shocks, keeping weight to a minimum. LT models upgrade to the stiffer Fox 36 fork and piggyback shocks, with coil options available on select tiers.

The M10 builds represent the sweet spot for performance and value, equipping the carbon frame with Fox Factory suspension, Shimano XT brakes, and an XT Di2 electronic drivetrain. The flagship M-Team and M-LTD models introduce premium Oquo carbon wheelsets and top-tier SRAM or Shimano shifting. Across the board, Orbea’s customization program allows buyers to swap tires, adjust dropper lengths, and upgrade batteries before purchase, ensuring the bike arrives tailored to specific trail conditions.

Reviews

On the trail, the Rise is widely praised for bridging the gap between traditional mountain bikes and full-power electric models. The motor’s power delivery requires active rider input, rewarding a higher cadence with smooth, predictable assistance rather than an abrupt surge. Testers consistently highlight the bike's agility, with one noting it is the "most natural handling eMTB I've ridden to date" (PinkBike). The SL version leans into this agile character, feeling "quick, snappy and lively" (Bebikes) on smoother, rolling terrain.

The LT variant handles aggressive descents with surprising composure for its weight class. It "tracks through rock gardens with reassuring precision" (Ebike-mtb), though some riders observed a "heavier rear-end weight bias" (Flow Mountain Bike) that requires a bit more effort to loft the rear wheel over obstacles.

While the suspension kinematics and frame stiffness earn high marks, reviewers frequently point out a few distinct drawbacks. The Shimano motor produces a noticeable mechanical clunking noise while coasting over rough ground. Additionally, heavier or highly aggressive riders occasionally note a slight lack of torsional frame rigidity when pushing the bike hard into high-load corners.
