Solace Gravel eRIDE
The Scott Solace Gravel eRIDE is Scott’s lightweight drop-bar e-gravel platform, introduced for 2023 and built around TQ’s compact mid-drive system rather than a hub motor. That choice defines the bike: it is intended to ride much more like a conventional performance gravel bike than a utility-focused e-bike, with subtle assistance for climbing, longer rides and rougher terrain rather than overpowering acceleration. Across this generation, Scott has kept the same HMX carbon chassis and geometry while evolving the drive system from the original TQ HPR50 with a 360Wh internal battery to later HPR60-equipped versions, indicating refinement rather than a wholesale redesign.
What sets the Solace Gravel apart is how closely it mirrors Scott’s analogue Addict Gravel in concept while making key changes for the e-platform. The frame uses fully internal routing through a large headset area, flat-mount discs, 12mm thru-axles and a UDH rear interface, while tire clearance grows to 700x50mm. That extra clearance, combined with endurance-biased geometry and slightly longer rear-center dimensions than the Addict Gravel, positions the bike in the premium performance e-gravel segment: less of a loaded adventure bike, more of a fast, technical, high-end gravel machine that happens to provide assist. It is aimed at riders who want a relatively light, discreet e-bike that still feels engaging once speeds rise above the assistance cutoff.
Reviews
Reviewers broadly agree that the Solace Gravel eRIDE succeeds because it does not feel like a typical e-bike. BikeRadar, Bikerumor and others repeatedly highlighted the TQ system’s near-silent operation and very low drag above the 25km/h assistance limit, noting that the bike continues to pedal naturally when the motor cuts out or the battery is depleted. Several testers described it as sporty, racy and unusually close in feel to an acoustic gravel bike, with the centralized mid-drive weight helping the bike stay balanced and composed. Cycling Weekly and Granfondo both praised its descending confidence and high-speed stability, while Brujulabike and BikeRadar pointed to precise steering and a planted rear end as major strengths.
The main trade-off is comfort and day-to-day practicality. Multiple reviews noted that the HMX frame and integrated Syncros cockpit are quite stiff, so much of the bike’s compliance comes from the stock 50mm tires rather than from the frame itself; Granfondo specifically said the frame and seatpost do not offer much comfort on their own. That gives the bike excellent precision on smoother gravel and woodland trails, but some testers found the front end unforgiving on bigger hits or more technical terrain. Reviewers also flagged limited mounting points, awkward mode changes without a more convenient remote, and minor ownership niggles such as cable rattling and a thin chainstay protector. The result is a premium e-gravel bike that reviewers admired for its natural ride feel and sharp handling, but one better suited to performance-oriented gravel riding than fully loaded bikepacking or very rough trail use.
