FX+ 7S Midstep

The 2022–2025 Trek FX+ generation was designed as a lightweight, understated electric hybrid rather than a full-power urban e-bike. Its defining feature is the compact Hyena hub-drive system: a 250W rear motor with roughly 40Nm of torque paired to a 250Wh integrated battery. That setup kept complete bike weight around the 40 lb / 18 kg mark and allowed Trek to build an e-bike that visually reads much closer to a conventional fitness or commuter bike than many bulkier city models. Trek also kept the rider interface deliberately minimal, with no large display and no throttle, reinforcing the bike’s simple, pedal-assist-only character.

In practical terms, this FX+ generation sits at the lighter, cleaner, lower-power end of the e-urban market. It was aimed at riders who wanted help with commuting, errands, and everyday riding without the mass, drag, and visual clutter of a higher-output system. Trek framed the onboard 250Wh battery around relatively modest range expectations—about 35 miles claimed—with an optional Range Extender available for riders who needed closer to 70 miles. Across the generation, Trek offered both standard and step-through-style Stagger layouts, and later LT trims expanded the family without changing the core frame and e-drive concept.
