The 2026 Giant Anthem Advanced SL is a dedicated cross-country race platform that shifts away from the steep, rigid feel of older XC bikes toward a more capable, modern 120mm-travel chassis. Developed alongside Giant’s World Cup program, the frame relies on a heavily revised FlexPoint Pro suspension layout. By moving the rear shock under the top tube, Giant centralized the bike's packaging and opened up the front triangle to accommodate two water bottles—a crucial update for marathon racers.
Positioned for privateers and elite athletes alike, the Anthem prioritizes a high stiffness-to-weight ratio and rapid acceleration. While it retains the sharp pedaling response expected of a flagship race bike, the increased travel and updated kinematics give it a broader operating window on technical courses. The Anthem’s geometry places the rider in an aggressive, forward-biased posture tailored for power delivery, driven by a steep seat tube angle and a moderate reach. However, the increased suspension travel raises the stack height slightly compared to older models, and a generous bottom bracket drop creates a distinct sensation of sitting inside the bike rather than perched on top of it. This lower center of gravity significantly bolsters cornering stability and high-speed descending control.
A two-position flip chip at the forward shock mount allows riders to fine-tune the handling. The stock High setting keeps the head angle at a sharp 67 degrees for precise steering on tight, twisty singletrack. Switching to the Low setting drops the bottom bracket further and slackens the angles by half a degree, favoring stability on steep, fast descents.
Fit adjustability is the primary tradeoff of the Anthem's modern design. The one-piece integrated bar and stem used across the lineup prevents riders from rolling the handlebars or easily swapping stem lengths. The entry-point 2 build features a mechanical SRAM 12-speed drivetrain, Shimano SLX brakes, and alloy Giant XCA wheels. Stepping up to the 1 build introduces wireless shifting via a SRAM GX AXS Transmission and upgrades the rolling stock to Giant’s lightweight XCR carbon wheels, hitting a sweet spot for privateer racers.
